Sigma Chi’s Carter Jasper Appointed as Student Regent in Montana

Missoula, MT — The University of Montana’s Carter Jasper, a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, has been appointed to serve as Student Regent for the Montana University System. A senior from Saint Regis, MT, studying Political Science, Jasper brings an impressive record of leadership and service to the statewide position.

Within Sigma Chi, Jasper has held nearly every leadership role possible — Consul (President), Pro Consul (Vice President), Annotator (Secretary), and Social Chairman. Beyond the chapter, he has represented his fraternity at the highest levels, serving as Undergraduate Representative to the Sigma Chi Rules, Organizations & Procedures Committee, Big Sky Province Representative to the Grand Council in 2024, and Chapter Delegate to Sigma Chi’s Grand Chapter in both 2023 and 2025.

Jasper credits Sigma Chi as the foundation for his success.

“I believe you are only as strong as the support system around you, and Sigma Chi has been the best support system I could have asked for. That encouragement gave me the confidence to apply for the position, go through the entire process, and know that whether I won or lost, I would still have a house full of brothers standing beside me.”

In addition to his Sigma Chi leadership, Jasper has made a strong impact on the University of Montana community. He served as IFC Vice President of Judicial Affairs, Vice President of the Montana 4-H Foundation, and was recognized as the 2023–24 Greek Life Emerging Leader of the Year. He was also selected as an Ambassador Max S. Baucus Scholar, a member of the Davidson Honors College, and a Huntsman Leadership Scholar within Sigma Chi.

Reflecting on how Sigma Chi shaped his leadership journey, Jasper shared:

“I was always taught that if you have something to give, you should give it. I carried that mindset into Sigma Chi. Whether it was taking on leadership positions, supporting my brothers, or contributing to my chapter’s success, Sigma Chi gave me the space to practice and strengthen my leadership skills.”

Looking ahead, Jasper plans to attend law school after graduation with the long-term goal of establishing his own law practice in Montana.
