At just 20 years old, Andrew Norton is already making his mark on campus and beyond. A senior at the University of New Mexico, Andrew is graduating a year early with a BBA in Business Management while serving as Student Body President. A proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha (Beta-Delta chapter), Andrew credits his fraternity as the driving force behind his rise in leadership.
Fraternity Brotherhood as a Campaign Army
“When you’re running for Student Body President at a school of nearly 20,000 students, it takes an army to campaign,” Andrew reflected. “Pike was the army that propelled me into rooms where I couldn’t be, places I wasn’t at, and into the conversations of our students, campus-wide. I truly believe that without Pike, I would not be where I am.”
Leadership Lessons from Pike
Andrew’s fraternity journey has reshaped how he views leadership. “Pike has taught me that leadership is more than just doing what is perceived as right to me, but what is actually right to a majority,” he said. He emphasizes the importance of valuing and seeking out differing perspectives, noting that his own experiences are just one piece of the larger student voice he represents.
Achievements on Campus
Andrew has excelled both inside and outside of the classroom. His accomplishments include:
- Mortarboard Seniors Honor Society – Member (March 2025)
- Top 15% Academically in Sophomore Class – UNM Mortarboard Society (January 2024)
- Finalist – Rainforest Business Pitch Competition (November 2023)
Beyond his role as Student Body President, Andrew is active as a Trailblazers Business Club member, Mortarboard Honors Society inductee, and representative on the Board of Admissions and Registrations.
Looking Ahead
With a foundation built on leadership, academics, and fraternity values, Andrew plans to pursue a career in business management, applying the lessons of collaboration, perseverance, and honor he has learned at UNM and in Pi Kappa Alpha.
From Stanwood, Washington, to the heart of Albuquerque, Andrew Norton’s story is a testament to the power of fraternity brotherhood and the impact of student leadership on shaping tomorrow’s leaders.
