Pi Kappa Alpha’s Daniel Walker Elected Student Body President at East Carolina University

Greenville, NC — Daniel Walker, a senior from Currituck, North Carolina, has been elected Student Body President at East Carolina University (ECU). Representing more than 27,000 students on the university’s Board of Trustees, Walker brings an impressive record of leadership, service, and academic excellence to the role.

Walker, a Healthcare Administration major and Brinkley-Lane Scholar, has been deeply involved in campus life since arriving at ECU. His leadership résumé includes serving as Internal Vice President of Pi Kappa Alpha, Secretary of Dental Brigades, ECU Honors Ambassador, and Vice President of Health and Wellness for the UNC Association of Student Governments and the Council of Student Body Presidents.

His campaign for Student Body President reflected the collaborative spirit of ECU’s fraternity and sorority community.

“My campaign team included liaisons from every fraternity and sorority on campus, along with representatives from the NPHC and MGC councils. Their role was to connect our campaign with individual chapters and help secure strong voter support. The Greek community has always been deeply committed to fostering leadership at ECU, and without their support, I would not have the privilege of representing more than 27,000 students on the Board of Trustees.”

Walker also reflected on his fraternity journey and the unique experience of helping establish Pi Kappa Alpha at ECU.

“I had the privilege of being a founding member of the PIKE Chapter at East Carolina University. This experience allowed me to build something from the ground up, navigate the highs and lows of a new organization, and witness growth beyond anything I could have imagined. The Greek community at ECU is deeply committed to developing leaders, and I am grateful for the connections I’ve made across campus and for the confidence of always knowing someone in every room I walk into.”

In addition to his fraternity and student government leadership, Walker has excelled academically and professionally. He has served as a Biology and Chemistry Tutor at the Pirate Academic Success Center, studied abroad in Italy, and completed a Clinical Research Internship at ECU’s Brody School of Medicine. His accolades include the Excellence in Organic Chemistry Award, Greek Life Community Service Award, RCAW Best Research Poster Award (Human Health Category), URCA Grant for Public Health Research, and recognition as a Top 10 ECU Captain of the Ship Finalist. He has also earned consistent honors on the Dean’s and Chancellor’s List and completed congressional internships focused on public service.

Looking ahead, Walker plans to pursue a career in health policy and lobbying, combining his healthcare background with his passion for leadership and advocacy.
